Dan Varenka is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Rochester, NY.
I like to figure out the relationship between found images and contemporary narratives. Combining my DIY upbringing and commercial screen-printing practice, my work usually takes the form of books and zines.
I received an MFA from Visual Studies Workshop in 2012 and have been teaching and assisting other artists in various capacities since then. Before attending VSW I received a BA in Art Education from Nazareth College of Rochester and taught K-12 art, introducing kids to the joys of mixing colors, making paper, and Dadaism.
I've been organizing the Rochester Small Press Book Fair (aka Pub Fair) since 2013. The last one was Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the RIT City Art Space. We'll be back again in the fall of 2025.
