Dan Varenka is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Rochester, NY.
I like to figure out the relationship between found images and contemporary narratives. Combining my DIY upbringing and commercial screen-printing practice, my work usually takes the form of books and zines.
I received an MFA from Visual Studies Workshop in 2012 and have been teaching and assisting other artists in various capacities since then. Before attending VSW I received a BA in Art Education from Nazareth College of Rochester and taught K-12 art, introducing kids to the joys of mixing colors, making paper, and Dadaism.
I've been organizing the Rochester Small Press Book Fair (aka Pub Fair) since 2013. We took a few years off for safety but returned September 30, 2023.
